Production Workflow

I do a shed load of Video editing and with Apple moving away from there professional users with in my opinion the release of the embarrassing final cut pro X and more towards there casual users, I have moved towards a Adobe Suite workflow with the integration of Adobes time saver "Dynamic Link" which links the programs together so your not constantly rendering out after making changes, for example if I had a project in Adobe after effects and had rendered it out and put it in adobe premiere And after realized  I needed to change a effect I would just link the projects together and the change will update without the need to render.Adobe have made vast updates to the Adobe Suite and is a threat to apples domineering Final Cut Pro  .
                                                                                       

                                                  

End of a legend the Shepherd

So that's it the Mass Effect trilogy has come to a end which infuriated many gamers,which ended up with me throwing my controller at my TV in dissapointment and loss.The ending even with the Extended Cut DLC has much more explanation but just still leaves me feeling empty and confused .It still leaves questions unanswered but maybe that's what Bioware Intended .

I really cannot fault Sam Hulick & Clint Mansell music composing skills which stunning score plays out in the finale.It is a sad fact that Bioware will not be ressurecting Commander Shepherd in the upcoming Mass Effect 4 but I guess Bioware have decided its somebody's else's turn.

For the dragonborn!

"For the dragonborn" crys my companion in Bethesdas Elder scrolls skyrim.The music in this game is simply amazing the great orchestral score as a dragon soars above harassing you with fire sends chills down your spin if you have not had a chance to play this epic title it is a must!!!.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

So the final film is out after lots of hype but does it live up to that hype?.Well the answer is yes and no, after walking away I felt a bit empty like something was missing but maybe I was expecting to much.The film starts very abruptly with no plot summary whatsoever of the previous film "part 1" so sorry guys if you have not watched the previous film there maybe a few bits that confuse you,the fight scenes in particular do not fail to impress with impressive visual effects hundreds of wand blasts flying around does look incredible which brings me onto the 3D I was a little disappointed with this,I felt the 3D was somewhat lacking in certain area's it was never consistent in one scene it looked incredible then in the next plausible it was this level of inconsistency which lets the 3D version of the film down.The film's characters are all summed up nicely more or less all your questions are explained it's just a shame I felt this scene in the film had been rushed and tried to get everything answered in the space of 30 seconds.The finale with Voldemort is impressive and wont dissapoint .
The crucial moment of this film is undoubtedly when harry realises where is destiny is and sets out to fulfill it, it is gripping and moving.The final film is a gripping,charming and exciting picture.It reminded me of the thrill of seeing the very first film 10 years ago and radcliffe's Harry Potter has surfaced as confident , courageous and vulnerable character which is most likeable but sadly it is the end of the line and we must leave him for ever.Wait. Iv got a damn tear in my eye again...

So I finally got round to seeing the latest transformers film and I walked out feeling I had been cheated

So I finally got round to dabbling into some light painting some of the outcomes you can come out with are incredible,this effect is created by selecting a really long shutter speed for example 10 seconds depending on how long you think it will take to create your drawing check out the image's below.

So I am still debating what 3d package to go into with the many avaliable such as 3d's max,Cinema 4D,Maya etc lets see how long it will take ...

So I got the Avatar collectors edition for christmas and it got me thinking how much this film has changed the way we see Visual effect's. James Cameron has managed to do it without taking a trip down the Uncanny Valley. It's essentially the same motion capture technology that has been used in film and computer games for years but a lot more advanced with the ability to not only track the body of the actor's but also there facial expression's which helps give the whole animation a more generic look.Another thing cameron has come up with is the "Simulcam" which allows him to see a low resolution outcomes of all the visual effects live so for example a greenscreen would be replaced with a background this saves a lot of time as they can see it live they don't need to get it sent off for a week and wait around twiddling there thumbs for a finished render to find out it isn't what they wanted .The effects in this film are simply breathtaking take a look for yourself.

As a avid gamer most of my time recently has been lost to EA Games Battlefield bad company 2 this games sound design is simply mind blowing,the shudder from tank shells to the whizzing of bullets to my squad mates screaming orders. For the first time playing a game I felt completely immersed in my surroundings.It is this level of commitment to the sound design which makes this game truly epic so do yourself a favour pick this one up!.

So this is my first proper blog post...so yeah I thought I would start a blog as a have a strong passion for Visual Effects it just fascinates me what is possible in post production.So yeah i aim to make this blog more interesting with time :)
